As millions of people ushered in 2016 with new resolutions, fireworks and parties; we celebrated our New Year in style!
A day filled with fun N frolic was organized for the children with SHM at Rebecca Ground, a name well known in the city of Howrah.
It was all smiles everywhere when the event kicked off with an interesting activity “Draw Your Imagination”. The idea behind the theme was to bring out something no one’s ever seen before through his or her piece of art. Some of the paintings by these children reflected the very old saying – no one can stop you from dreaming but you.
Just like there’s sportsmanship on the field, there’s camaraderie amongst fans even if they’re rooting for opposite sides. That’s exactly what we saw in the cricket and football match held at the academy, attracting good number of children and volunteers. Adding to the excitement was their appearance as professional cricketers. The game saw children throwing friendly banters and applauding an opponent’s performance.
In another activity, the door of the academy was to be painted. A simple activity turned a plain iron gate into a beautiful and a wonderful academy entrance with sheer hard work of the children and volunteers. This was followed by a cleanliness drive to clear the mess created during the previous activities.
The event concluded with a gift distribution ceremony for the children and bestowing the volunteers with certificates as a token of appreciation.
It was indeed a good start to the New Year!
